UK screen printing ink manufacturer MagnaPrint adds new DWR primer

MagnaColours, a UK manufacturer of PVC-free water-based inks for textile screen printing, has announced that after their hard work at MagnaLab to design innovative new products, the company has added the latest addition to its range – MagnaPrint DWR Primer. This will allow the use of water based inks on DWR (durable water repellent) fabrics.

Currently, printing DWR fabrics is only possible with solvent-based inks.

“DWR fabrics are a problem when it comes to water-based printing. When fabrics have a water-resistant or water-repellent surface, water-based inks cannot properly adhere to the fabric, resulting in low wash fastness and poor durability,” MagnaColours said in a release. hurry. “When you weren’t using solvent-based inks, previous solutions were often to remove the tough coating from the fabric before printing, which destroyed the water repellency.”

The new MagnaPrint DWR Primer adds a printed primer to the garment as an initial base. This provides a suitable surface for printing with water-based high solids inks such as MagnaPrint AquaFlex V2.

“With MagnaPrint DWR Primer, you can use inks on water-repellent fabrics that were previously impossible to print with water-based products,” the company added.

MagnaPrint DWR Primer is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to MagnaLab to develop environmentally friendly solutions to the printing challenges facing the industry.
