  • Ravensburger orders highly automated inkjet system for individual printing products and packaging; order volume in the mid-single digit EUR million range
  • Manz combines years of expertise in automation and digital inkjet printing to create a unique solution and technological competence
  • “direct2shape” printing enables efficient and flexible production with high productivity and low production costs

Reutlingen, December 15, 2021 – Manz AG, a global high-tech engineering company with a comprehensive technology portfolio, has received a mid-single-digit order of one million euros for a inkjet to print on products and packaging for Ravensburger, one of Germany’s leading manufacturers of games, puzzles, activity products and children’s books.

The system concept developed by Manz AG is extremely flexible and allows the individual printing of a wide variety of products and packaging. This is possible thanks to the direct-to-surface printing of the finished products (direct2shape) using the digital inkjet process without any complex conversion. In addition, the intelligent automation system achieves highly accurate printing at 1200 dpi resolution as well as maximum productivity at the lowest cost, since any printer downtime is eliminated.

The combination of direct2shape printing and automation solutions from Manz AG opens up many new application possibilities: for example, individual adjustments to products are possible even with small batch sizes. Despite the high adaptability of the systems, they achieve peak output per hour in the mid-four-digit range.

Martin Drasch, CEO of Manz AG, comments: “The interaction of automation and printing technology is facing the highest demands due to the move towards digitization, individualization and small batch sizes. Manz combines ‘excellence in the ‘automation’ and ‘high-end inkjet expertise’ to create a solution and technological competence that is unique in the market, thus enabling its customers to follow the trend towards ever greater individualization of finished products at attractive prices.”

In February 2021, Manz AG entered the field of digital printing technology for direct printing on components (direct2shape) by acquiring a stake in CADIS Engineering GmbH, a specialist in industrial inkjet systems. This investment in new technology is already paying off with Ravensburger’s order for the first system suitable for mass production.
