Comexi will focus on sustainability, automation and digital printing at the upcoming K 2022 show

The company will unveil the new Digiflex, which currently offers the best digital variable data printing for flexible packaging

Girona – Digital printing, more sustainable processes, automation and value-added solutions will be the main pillars on which Comexi’s activity will focus at the 2022 K fair; the event will take place from October 19 to 26 at the Messe in Düsseldorf (Germany). From Hall 4, Stand B31, Comexi will publicly present the new Digiflex. This machine allows the company to currently offer the best digital printing of variable data, such as Datamatrix variable codes, QR codes, barcodes, alphanumeric text, as well as other numbering and marking applications. with high quality requirements.

Sustainability, at the heart of all innovations
Sustainability, defined as the management of resources to meet current needs without compromising future needs, has become a major global concern in recent years. Consumers are increasingly aware of the environment and do not hesitate to buy sustainable products.

Comexi has always distinguished itself by seeking more innovative sustainable solutions in flexible packaging with a low carbon footprint: efficient energy management, less material loss, lower ink consumption, as well as reduction in the use of plastic and solvents. “At Comexi, we are leaders in providing sustainable solutions for the printing and converting of plastic and paper packaging. Our goal is to provide products and services that help converters deliver value-added solutions added to their customers. For this reason, in terms of equipment that adapts to the current needs and requirements of the market, we are constantly innovating”, explains Enric Carrera, commercial director of Comexi.

As an attendee of K, the world’s largest exhibition for the plastics and rubber industry, Comexi will have the opportunity to show attendees how it applies significantly sustainable processes with solvent-free inks in offset presses and flexo, including options such as WB (water-based) and EB printing.

Additionally, and fulfilling the claim of durability, water-based coatings are becoming extremely popular for incoming packaging structures. “We provide unique solutions for paper and film water-based coating applications that significantly reduce environmental impact,” says Albert Chicote, Lamination Business Unit Manager, Comexi.

In addition, Comexi places a strong emphasis on automation during the lamination process, which is why they will show what has become the most award-winning and advanced technology for years in solvent-free machines, the closed-loop system, which together with the Synaptik group provides the highest reliability of the weight of the coating during work without any human intervention.

Automation and Value Added Solutions
Comexi provides “the most sophisticated slitting and rewinding machines, constantly researching and innovating until we satisfy the most demanding needs of our customers and end consumers. We offer various online value-added processes associated with these machines , such as in-line laser and coil handling solutions”.

Comexi Laser is the revolution in the flexible packaging industry. An in-line laser processing system can be integrated into Comexi slitters. It is the key differentiating technology that optimizes production and follows the latest technological developments and market trends. Control, precision and speed can best define this innovative tool, which allows customization, differentiation and, simultaneously, performs a wide range of applications and finishes.

The Comexi company offers the possibility of automating all the operations that occur after rewinding and cutting, such as transport, labeling, weighing, bagging and palletizing. With tailor-made solutions, Comexi partners with its customers to address the greatest challenge of this era in the flexible packaging industry: the lack of qualified operators and the difficulties in retaining talent.

Digiflex: the solution to make each pack a unique unit
K show attendees will have the opportunity to see, for the first time, the new Digiflex, Comexi’s digital printing solution for flexible packaging and labeling in an increasingly demanding market. It is a digital variable data printing press that delivers extremely high print speeds, exceptional quality results, and the highest level of performance and production. Digiflex is an all-in-one solution that includes curing process integration, tension control, print registration, corona treatment and a video inspection system.

Comexi Digiflex uses low-migration inks suitable for printing food packaging; it offers excellent results in quality tests (ribbon, ethanol and scratch). The machine offers the possibility of double-sided printing without processing, as well as printing on pre-printed material. The Digiflex, being a digital press, is an efficient solution thanks to its ability to reduce set-up times. It can reach a maximum speed of 220 m/min, reduce material waste and improve lead times. In addition, the machine offers high print quality with resolution up to 1200×1200 dpi, minimum code size of 8×8 mm, as well as printing and registration consistency.
